明清实录 = MingQing shilu
Description: This electronic database, published by the Erudition, Beijing, contains the electronic version of the ·Vertitable Records" shilu 實錄 of the Ming and Qing dynasties in full text. The scanned images of the original are also provided. Containing all extant 14 shilu of the Ming and 13 of the Qing dynasty, the database gives access to historical data from 1368 up to about 1912. Veritable records comprise accounts of an emperors reign. They were compiled - after the death of the respective emperor - from the daily records (起居註) and from edicts, annoucements and other daily administrative records. Many sections of the Standard histories were compiled on the basis of these veritable records. So they are one step closer to being "real" historical documents. The genre of shilu started much earlier but the only complete set still extant today are those of the Ming and Qing. Shilu are assessed as one of the most important historical source for the study of the Ming and also for the Qing.
Veritable records were not meant for publication but for being kept in the palace. Nevertheless quite some copies of the Ming shilu are extant. The basis for the Ming shilu digitized text and images presented in this database seems to be the facsimile reproduction published 1940 under the aegis of Liang Hongzhang 梁鴻志. The text of the other, and today more standard edition of the Ming shilu published by the Taiwan Academia Sinica in the late 1960ies, is part of the Scripta Sinica database, also available via CrossAsia.

The complete database consists of altogether 10,000 documents and further assembles 8,000 family genealogies (家谱) and 600 diaries (日谱) from the Song-Yuan dynasties up to early 20th century.
The interface is similar to that of the Chinese Ancient Books (Jiben guji ku 基本古籍库) and digitized text and scanned images of the transcribed original are both provided.

Description: The Song huiyao (宋会要) was compiled by a special office during the Song, collecting important documents on institutions, regulations and constitutions etc. It existed only in manuscript form and got lost later. Larger parts of the Song huiyao were copied into the Ming dynasty encyclopaedia Yongle dadian. From there the texts were recovered by Xu Song 徐松 (1781-1848) and compiled into the work digitized in this database, the Song huiyao jigao 宋會要輯稿 (literally "Draft re-compilation of the Important documents of the Song"). Xu Song's work was never printed. 1936 the Beiping tushuguan published a photomechanical reproduction of his manuscript.
The database allows comparison of the digitized full text and the scanned images of the original. The database is fully searchable. (The provider's English title of the database is "Song meeting and essential manuscripts")
