Its objective, as for the Swiss-German Section, is to deepen the links between Japan and Switzerland. Citation: “VSJF – German Association for Social Science Research on Japan” V-S-J-F are the initials for “Vereinigung fuer sozialwissenschaftliche Japanforschung”. The Association was founded in 1988. Its general aim was and still is to strengthen the study of contemporary Japan in the German-speaking countries, namely Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. The Association is conceived as a forum for researchers and students from the fields of Japanese studies as well as from social sciences, including cultural studies. Twice a year, the Association publishes a newsletter (in German) for its members. The newsletter is being distributed over the internet.
