WhoPlus
Description: WHOPLUS is a searchable database of about 330,000 Japanese and international historical and contemporary figures (as of November 2012). Nichigai WHOPLUS is divided into two files: WHO and Jinbutsu odan file (人物ファイル横断, lit. Figures Cross-reference). WHO provides a full text search with the detailed search options while Jinbutsu odan file searches name headings and full text. The setting when entering the database is the Jinbutsu odan file that comprises all data.
Please note, that access to WhoPlus through CrossAsia is a terminal connection. Java runtime 1.5 is needed!

古今圖書集成 = The complete classics collection of ancient China
Description: The Gujin tushu jicheng, compiled by Chen Menglei et al. and published with movable copper type in 1726-28, is by far the largest leishu to have been printed (6,109 subsections, 852,408 pages.) Under each subsection excerpts from sources are gathered from the beginnings of writing to the 17th century, from a 18th-century standpoint.

永乐大典 = Yongle encyclopedia
Description: Only a small part of the hand-written imperial encyclopaedia from the Ming Dynasty, Yongle dadian, has survived history, some volumes dispersed over the world. The Yongle dadian database makes available the currently known 813 juan as full text and as monochrome facsimile.

康熙字典 - Kangxi zidian : 普及版
Description: Initiated on imperial order, the Kangxi zidian 康熙字典 (The Imperial Character Dictionary) was first published in 1716 after about five years of compilation. Emperor Kangxi wrote the preface to the dictionary and thus granted the book and the system of 214 radicals the dictionary uses for structuring its content official status. Containing 47.035 entries it remained the most popular and comprehensive Chinese character dictionary up to time Morohashi's Dai kanwa jiten was published in the 1950ies. The database provides radical, stroke count and pinyin/zhuyinzimu indexes. Full text searches are also possible. For each character its modern reading and the Unicode code point are given. The display of the entries can be switched between simplified and traditional characters and scans from the late Qing Wentong edition (文同書局) are provided for comparison. The original pages may also be printed.

JapanKnowledge+ is a portal to Japanese encyclopedias, dictionaries and databases. Description: KoreaA2Z is a knowledge resources for Korean studies integrating full-text databases of primary sources, encyclopdedias, dictionaries and classics. The resource also includes for example the EncyKorea (an updated digital edition of Han’guk Minjok Munhwa Taebaekkwa Sajŏn [한국민족문화대백과사전]), the Chosŏn Wangjo Sillok [朝鮮王朝実録] and 100 different editions of the “History of the Three Kingdoms”. The resource is organized by subject and resource type.

Apabi 工具书 = China reference books collection
Description: The collection gives access to a broad selection of Chinese dictionaries, thesauruses, encyclopedias etc. including 中国大百科全书, 汉语大词典,辞海 and numerous smaller and specialized reference books. Searches can be performed on the fulltext or confined to head entries, and further filtered by kind or subject group of reference book type. Individual titles can be browsed, read and searched individually and scans of the original pages are provided. The 1710 reference book titles of the ressource are also included in our OPAC (crossasia.stabikat.de).
The Apabi reference book collection was moved to the new platform. Content and functions etc. of the ressource has not changed. For those who prefer to use the "old" entry page, please follow this LINK.
Registered CrossAsia users who want to take advantage of the functions provided by the Apabi Reader should use the terminal server connection to China reference books. Please note, that to do so Java runtime 1.5 is needed! Read the requirements. To read the reference books the Citrix-server you get connected to will provide an Internet Explorer and the Apabi reader which is necessary to download and read the newspapers. China Reference Works Online (CNKI)
Description: This resource in an important addition to the Apabi Reference Books Collection (工具書). CNKI offers an advanced modus for filtering the search hits according to type of dictionary, subject etc. Moreover, a number of important reference works are included here, that are not available in the Apabi collection. The CrossAsia subscription follows the frame set by the "Sondersammelgebiet 6.25". Thus only the fields F, G, H, and J have been subscribed. The same applies to the Yearbooks, Statistical Yearbooks, Proceedings and Master theses and Dissertations. Only in CAJ the CrossAsia subscription covers the whole range of fields.
