中国年鉴资源全文数据库 = Apabi yearbooks
Description: Access to the collection of 141 subscribed Apabi yearbooks. The yearbooks mostly come from the subject class 国情地情综合 (General situation of the Land and the Nation) or from economy related fields. The yearbook series only cover the years up to 2010. For newer yearbooks please refer to the CNKI yearbooks and statistial yearbooks databases.
The database platform offers fulltext search and subject browsing and, as advanced search, the possibility to confine ones search for example to "statistical data" or "pictures". When clicking a thumbnail image from the hitlist, the yearbook title opens with bibliographical data and a table of content for navigation, which opens only the respective part of the volume. This view allows right-mouse-clicks for saving the image and the option for printing the page. For some tables a link to a html-version of the page is offered beneath the image. As for the other books in the new Apabi platform a 翻阅原书 option is offered. This opens the book in a special viewer, which allows to see and page through the book as whole, use an embedded OCR and search the book. No printing or downloading option is offered.
The Apabi yearbook titles are also searchable via the EAD online catalogue (crossasia.stabikat.de). The Yearbook database is now integrated into the Apabi Digital Library platform. To access the "old" (but already web-based) version of the ressource follow this LINK.

China Statistical Yearbooks Database (CNKI) = 中国统计年鉴数据库
Description: The database includes 632 titles of statistical yearbooks (of which about 150 are constantly updated) with all together 3777 volumes. They cover a wide range of industries and the whole as well as specific regions of the PRC. The earliest included datas go back to 1949. The interface currently allows browsing by industry, region or type of statistical yearbook as well as navigating the yearbooks by title of those most used or most recently updated. Data searches may be performed on the full text or confined to headings.
Hit lists and the direct use of specific yearbook titles both only allow to see parts of the a yearbook. For navigation a box with the table of content of a volume is shown on the left. Offered data formats are PDF and XLS data sheets. The button "View the book online" does NOT work, because for this a special viewer is needed (and this would mean to enclose the database for CrossAsia users into a Citrix environment).
The database further offers to generate analytic reports (Data analysis) comparing index data of specific industries for different regions within a set time frame and to find and download monthly statistics released by the national or regional Statistical Bureaus of China.

China Yearbooks Full-text Database (CNKI) = 中国年鉴网络出版总库
Description: By 7.2012 the database contained 2415 yearbook titles in altogether 18579 volumes. The included information partly goes back to as early as 1912 (appearing in yearbooks that were published much later!) and also the most recently published yearbooks are included.
The platform allows browsing of yearbooks by industry, region or subject as well as an elaborate interface for searches within all bibliographical and subject fields and also the full text. Searches may be confined to "pictures" but not all picture captions, especially of older yearbooks, do have full text.
No option for paging through a whole book is provided. The different sections of a yearbook can only be viewed and downloaded separately. Download format is PDF.
The yearbooks database is already partly integrated into the larger CNKI "Knowledge Resource Integrated Database", which means, that for an yearbook item the system tries to find similar items within the Chinese Academic Journal, Master theses etc. databases etc. The yearbook database is currently not included into the metasearch of CNKI (metasearch of CNKI ).

Wanfang New Local Gazetteers = 万方新方志
Description: Wanfang data's New Local Gazetteers database gives access to currently (10.2011) 10.931 titles falling into the greater genre of local monographs published in the PRC since 1949. It contains not only the local gazetteers of the different provinces, districts, counties and cities but also special monographs on, for example, the food industry or traffic administration of a certain area, as well as treatises on regional toponyms or famous persons.
Local gazetteers are mostly officially sponsored and initiated and follow certain compilation rules. But they contain valuable details and accounts on larger and smaller administrative units of the PRC and thus provide important source materials for studying modern and contemporary China.
The database may be searched by region, topic, resource type etc. and also by full text (which was done with OCR). Hit lists may be further drilled down by facets. A PDF of the smallest unit a hit belongs to is provided for reference and download. Together these units amount to more than 3,3 mio. No PDF of the whole title is offered.
