The original Shinto jiten is the most widely used general work of reference regarding Shinto in Japan today.

Description: This is the Chinese version of the well known free content encyclopedia project Wikipedia. Wiki means that anyone can add new or edit existing articles. Begun in January 2001, by the end of 2004 the English version contained some 460,000 entries; the Chinese version had about 19,000 entries. The wealth of information is staggering, although this resources should be used with caution.

Citation: This online directory of minorities and indigenous peoples grew out of Minority Rights Group’s encyclopaedic World Directory of Minorities, first published in 1990 and updated and expanded in 1997. This World Directory has been restructured into database format, updated and expanded, and the entire text is now available free of charge for the use of all those throughout the world with an interest in any aspect of minorities and indigenous peoples, their rights, their historical, political or geographical context.
At the core of the online directory are some 220 of the world’s countries, including dependent territories, and about 700 minorities/indigenous peoples. The names of deities and places in the Chinese mythology area are transcribed according to the pinyin system of romanization. This system was officially adopted by the People's Republic of China in 1979.
The names according to the previously standard Wade-Giles system, which is still widely employed, are provided in each article.
