Asian Studies Programme : Otago University
Citation: Asian Studies is an interdisciplinary programme for students who wish to combine training in an Asian language with courses devoted to developing an understanding of the history, culture, politics and economics of the countries in the Asian region. The programme is designed to develop not only linguistic ability, but also a wider appreciation of the nature of Asian societies and the traditions, values and beliefs of Asian peoples. As an interdisciplinary programme, Asian Studies links courses offered by different departments that focus on the Asian region into a coherent programme of study.

By default, only entry-headings are searched and the string has to start with the search term. However, that can be changed in the settings (设置) section, where also each source can be in/excluded. There is even a Sanskrit font available for download. Users should note, that fulltext search (全文检索) excludes the entry-headings, and changes in the settings first need to be "saved" (确定)

It contains a wealth of materials ranging from texts and commentaries to the Daoist classics such as Laozi and Zhuangzi to protocols of visions, from biographies of Daoists to descriptions of Daoist temples, from cosmological speculation to ritual performance and magical spells. [...] During the 1980s, Professor Schipper assembled a group of young scholars [... and] guided them in developing a subject index for the entire Daozang. This would allow scholars to find not just the titles of works in the Daozang but all references to a given person, god, object, temple, ritual, text, spell etc. in this entire gigantic collection. [...] This subject index of about 8 000 pages was reproduced in a set of 37 microfiches. [...] Professor Schipper gracefully consented to our [Institute of Chinese Studies, Heidelberg University - ed.] suggestion to put this subject index online. [...] Following a suggestion by Professor Schipper, we have added a further research tool to the index, the index to the titles of the Daozang, Daozang suoyin, Shanghai, Shanghai shudian 1996, which is long out of print.
