= Global Performing Arts Database
http://www.glopac.org/ (Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA) Description: GloPAD is a multimedia, multilingual, Web-accessible database containing digital images, texts, video clips, sound recordings, and complex media objects (such as 3-D images) related to the performing arts from around the world. GloPAD is a development of GloPAC, the Global Performing Arts Consortium, a group of organizations and individuals committed to providing interactive, multimedia and multilingual tools to enable people everywhere to explore the diversity and depth of the world's performing arts. Performing Arts Databases (PADs) are being developed that include images, sound and video clips of performing arts with detailed descriptions in standardized formats to enable effective cross-cultural searching. Citation: GloPAD (Global Performing Arts Database) records include authoritative, detailed, multilingual descriptions of digital images, texts, video clips, sound recordings, and complex media objects related to the performing arts around the world, plus information about related pieces, productions, performers, and creators.
GloPAD is in a continual process of development: we have recently merged two related databases, restructured GloPAD to support our newly developed metadata standards, and redesigned the user interface. Approximately 4,500 objects are currently available, with new records added and older records revised on a daily basis. Format: text ; html Availability: free
